Katie Donovan, a junior at Illinois State University, was one of the leading scorers for the Canadian Young Womens Basketball team with 13 points, but it wasnt enough to prevent Canada from falling to the Republic of Ireland 75-68 at the 2003 Summer Universiade Games in Daegu, Korea.
Donovan, a native of Kingston, Ontario who was a starter her first two seasons at Illinois State, also had eight rebounds, matching teammate Jenine Browne for scoring and rebounding honors. Despite 29 offensive rebounds, the Canadians converted just 30 percent from the field to fall to 0-2 in the tournament ahead of a Friday game against the host countrys team.
