The Illinois State womens soccer team tied Busch Soccer Club of St. Louis 1-1 on Wednesday evening at Adelaide Street Field.
Busch started the scoring in the first half on an error by the Redbirds.
We just had a lack of communication on that play and it was a tough one to swallow, head coach Pete Kowall said. But youve got to give them credit for their hustle.
Illinois State evened the score later in the half on an unassisted goal by senior Diana Puckett.
According to Coach Kowall, there were many aspects of his teams performance that he liked yet he still saw things that the Birds could improve upon.
Our team was very physical and we were good in the air, Kowall said, but we didnt keep the ball enough on offense and our shots were from too far away.
The Redbirds will face the NSA Lazers in an exhibition game on Saturday before starting the regular season at Wisconsin-Green Bay on Friday, August 29.
