Redbirds in Sixth Place After Day One

The Illinois State womens golf team sits in sixth place after the first two rounds of the Chip-N-Club Invitational in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Redbirds shot a 313 in round one and followed with a 324 in round two good for a two round total of 637. Sophomore Samantha Richdale also is in sixth place in the individual standings. Richdale carded a 74 in the first round and an 80 in round two to post a 154 on the par 72, 5,933 yard Wilderness Ridge Golf Course. Finishing behind Richdale in a tie for 26th place was Hilary Anderson with a 162 (80,82). Ashlie Rose (82,82) and Ashlee Johnson (84,80) are both tied for 33rd place each shooting a 164, while Chelsea Bach is in a tie for 39th place with a 166 (77,89). The host Nebraska Cornhuskers lead the invitational with a two round total of 604. The University of Denver and Kansas State are tied for second place, while Nevada and Iowa State are tied for fourth. Following the sixth place Birds is Oral Roberts, with Southwest Missouri State, North Texas, Husker White (the Nebraska split-squad), Wichita State and Creighton rounding out the field of 12. The lady Redbirds return to golf action Tuesday when the third and final round of the Chip-N-Club Invitational tees off.
