The same field conditions which forced postponement of Monday's Illinois State soccer match at Eastern Illinois have caused a switch in the venue as well. The Redbirds and Panthers will square-off at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 2) at Adelaide Street Field on the campus of Illinois State University.
The 'Birds, 1-0, will try to stay undefeated and take the lead in a rivalry which began in 1996 and has each team with three wins. Illinois State opened the 2003 season with a 2-0 win at Wisconsin-Green Bay, featuring two goals by Michelle Brumbaugh.
A year ago, the Redbirds beat the Panthers 2-1 in overtime at Adelaide Street Field in the season opener for both teams. That kicked-off a 7-0 start for the Redbirds on the way to a 12-5-2 season. EIU was 12-8-2 last season.
