Liina Suurvarik went undefeated over the weekend as she led the Illinois State womens tennis team through the 2003 Polo Tennis National Collegiate Preview on Sunday.
Playing in Flight A singles Suurvarik picked up her third victory of the weekend, downing Tulsas Daniela Muscolino, 7-6, 6-7, 6-3. Laura Gravino managed to stay undefeated over the weekend after she bounced Tulsas Timberly Greenly, 6-3, 6-2. After an impressive victory Saturday, freshman Katri Miller, took Tulsas Donata Majauskaite to the limit before falling, 2-6, 6-0, 6-2.
In Flight B singles the Redbirds managed to split against Tulsa. After putting together two solid outings, Senior Elizabeth Bingier fell to Lisette Pereira, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6. In the last match for the Birds Emilie Sechaud picked up her second straight win by dropping Kindsay Grimes, 6-3, 6-1.
The Redbirds will begin Missouri Valley Conference action when they travel to Springfield, Mo., to begin the Valley Individuals Tournament on Friday, October 3.
