The Illinois State mens golf team sits in second place after the second round of the Fairway Club Invitational. Brian Anderson lead the way for the Birds after firing off a 142 (75-67) on the day, to finish in a tie for third with one round of play remaining. Andersons second round score of 67 is the tournament low, and his new personal best.
Senior Dustin Edwards carded a 145 (70-75) to place him in a tie for ninth, while junior Kyle Vasel 149 (76-73) ended the day tied for 23rd. Chris Eddy shot a 152 (75-77) for the day, and tied for 34th. Denny Bull 153 (75-78) rounds out the five man squad in a tie for 39th.
As a team the Birds finished in a tie for second with the University of Akron (587), trailing Iowa State University by just four strokes (581).
Defending tournament champion Oklahoma City sits one stroke ahead of the Birds in fourth with a 588, while tournament host Nebraska finished the day in fifth with a 590.
After two rounds of play, Blake Sattler of Akron (72-69), and Tyrone Van Aswegen of Oklahoma City (71-70) are tied for first , each carding a 141 for the day.
Play resumes Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m., with the final 18 holes of the tournament.
