The Illinois State swimming and diving team parts ways this weekend to compete at the Bill Ritter Invitational. The swimmers head to the campus of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, while the divers will compete on Illinois-Chicagos campus, but both teams will be working toward the same goal of winning their last invitational before the Valley championship in February.
This meet is all about cosistency for us, said head coach
Steve Paska. Were getting down to crunch time, the Valley meet will be the next big meet we compete in. Weve been making any corrections we need to and concentrating on technique, and this has been a great week of practice. Im expecting us to be competitive and hopefully in contention for a team win this weekend.
Diving coach Carly Weiden agreed that this weekend will serve as good preparation for the fast-approaching Valley championship, and her divers are ready to compete after a good week of practice as well.
I have high expectations for the divers this weekend, said Weiden. Theyve been training hard this week, and diving very well in practice. I think it will be a boost to their confidence to dive at UIC again. Theyve done well on the boards there already this season, and I expect them to be competive this weekend too.
Action gets underway on Friday at each teams respective facility, and concludes on Saturday.
