Fans viewing Saturdays local telecast of Illinois State mens basketball at Indiana State will need to hit the channel change button once during the game to keep up with the action. The game begins at 6 p.m. central time on WMBD-TV. But, because of the NFL playoff game scheduled to air at 7 p.m. central time on CBS, WMBD-TV has arranged to make a mid-broadcast switch to WYZZ-TV, Central Illinois Fox affiliate.
Frequently during the first hour of the broadcast, fans will be advised of the impending switch on the air by WMBD Sports Director Kurt Pegler, who does the play-by-play for Redbird basketball on television. At or about 7 p.m., Pegler will announce that the broadcast is switching from WMBD to WYZZ. After the switch, a banner will run across the bottom of the WMBD screen advising viewers to switch to WYZZ for Redbird basketball.
Pegler and former Redbird star Matt Taphorn will describe the action of the game from Terre Haute as Illinois State goes for its fifth straight win, and 50th in the all-time series, over the Sycamores.
