Redbirds Ranked Heading into Lady Razorback Invite

The Illinois State womens golf team heads into their final tournament of the fall season ranked 52nd in the nation. They will travel to Rogers, Arkansas to compete in the Lady Razorback Invitational starting Sunday, Oct. 17. The Birds enter this tournament with a veteran squad, each of whom have experience playing against some of the top teams in the nation. Ashlee Johnson, Kaila Fuller, Katie Laehn, Samantha Richdale and Ashlie Rose comprise the Redbird line-up this weekend. Head Coach Ray Kralis feels the Redbirds are ready, since they have such a powerful line-up. Each one of these girls knows what it takes in order to get the job done, said Kralis. Any one at any time is capable of leading this team; they are all strong players and they are ready to compete. The field consists of 19 teams, included in this field there are some of the top nationally ranked teams like #7 Missouri, #15 Michigan, #18 Arkansas, #32 Notre Dame, #42 Texas A&M, #44 Iowa State. Kralis feels this tournament is a great challenge and opportunity for the Birds. We are going into this tournament in a great position, but because the field is so loaded we are not going to be able to play mediocre and still compete, said Kralis. We must go and play the golf we are capable of playing because every shot is going to be critical, and in the end it is going to be a shootout. The Redbirds begin play on Sunday, Oct. 17th at 10:10 a.m.
