Soccer Falls to League Leader Drake, 1-0

The Illinois State womens soccer team fell to league leader, Drake 1-0 tonight. Illinois State now moves to 7-5-2 and 2-2-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Michelle Brumbaugh took a shot from the left side of the goal at 14:24 to try to give the Birds the advantage, but goalkeeper Erin Jarvis of Drake was able to make the save keeping Illinois State scoreless in the first half. The Bulldog's defense allowed the 'Birds to attempt only three shots in the first half. Drakes Sarah Foote was able to score the lone goal in the game at 31:38 assisted by Jennie Brown to give the Bulldogs the 1-0 win. The Bulldogs offense brought Illinois State goalkeeper Andrea Shaw out of the goal as Foote was able to take a shot down the middle at an open net to score. Drake now moves to 9-4-2 and 5-0 in the Valley. The Bulldogs kept with Birds scoreless throughout the 90 minutes of action only allowing Illinois State to take eight shots to the Bulldogs 13. The Birds will continue conference play as they match-up against Creighton on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
