Redbird Divers Dominate UIC Invitational

The Illinois State diving team traveled to Chicago to come home with the victory of first place in the UIC Invitational held this weekend. The Birds took home the first place spot with a final score of 119.0 blowing UW-Milwaukee (92.5), Northwestern (55.5), UIC (45.0), and Illinois (9.0) out of the water. Krystal Featherston placed first in the one-meter diving event with a final score of 251.90. Helping to secure the first place lead, diver Terra Whisman placed fourth in the same event helping the birds take home the victory with a score of 222.20. Head diving coach Carly Weiden was very impressed with the way the athletes dove at the Invitational. Coming off of a long weekend against Ball State and University of Illinois, I am very happy with the results and the way the athletes dove today, said Weiden. This proves that the Redbird divers can hold strong throughout a long weekend without letting it hamper their diving capabilities. Featherston also placed third in the three-meter diving event (218.35) while her teammate Kaitlin Schneider took fifth place with a score of 206.85. The Redbirds will be back in the pool Nov. 5 to face off against Western Illinois in Macomb at 6 pm.
