Eisenstein, Red Team Win Media World Series

Kyle OBrien drove in two runs and picked up the win for the Red team as they defeated the White team 10-4 on Thursday at Redbird Field to win the best of three Media World Series 2-1. The win gave WJBCs Russ Eisenstein a victory in his Media World Series debut, as his squad defeated the team managed by Bryan Bloodworth, sports editor of The Pantagraph. The Red team got on the board early as they plated two in the top of the first inning following RBI singles from Nick Crist and Dan Spino. The White team answered back with two of their own in the bottom half of the frame, as Matt Bolt and Luke Baughman would each double in runs and tie the score at two after one inning. With the score tied at three in the bottom of the fifth inning, Brad Sashko tripled in Jake Milligan to give the Bloodworths White team a 4-3 lead. Eisensteins Red squad would answer back in a large way in the top of the sixth, as they would plate four runs on only two hits. OBriens two-out double drove in the final two runs to give the Red a 7-4 lead. The Red team would score three more in the top of the seventh and hold on for the 10-4 win. Although a winner, Eisenstein was careful not to take to much credit in the win. All I told them was I wanted to see aggressive baseball, said the host of Sportstalk on WJBC. It was a great time today to be on the field with these guys. It was even better to win with this team since my boss (WJBCs Greg Halbleib) lost with them on Tuesday. Despite the loss, Bloodworth enjoyed himself much like Eisenstein. It was enjoyable as usual, Bloodworth said. Our defense and our pitching let us down late but thats the way it goes. I was really impressed with the increase in talent out on the field. This team should be fun to watch. The Media World Series marks an end to what head coach Jim Brownlee thought was a very good fall season. Its been a good fall and having a World Series come down to the final game is a great way to wrap it up, said Brownlee. Today the Red hit really well and the White had their bullpen fall apart. Overall though, its been a great fall. Team Red (2-1) 10 11 0 Team White (1-2) 4 5 3 WP: Kyle OBrien LP: Brandon Gale -###-
