This game is just part of the learning process for us, said head coach Pete Kowall. We played well enough to win. We missed on some very critical passes that could have made the difference in the game.
The game continued to go back and forth for both teams, but throughout regulation and double overtime neither team was able to break the 1-1 tie. Illinois State took 20 shots opposed to the Bears 11.
Illinois State now moves to 6-4-2 and 1-1-1 in conference play.
The girls gave great effort out on the field, said Kowall. Well now have to get some things worked out and get ready to play for Sundays game.
The Birds will continue conference play at home with a game at noon on Sunday at Adelaide Street Field. The Birds will take on the Panthers of Drury for Senior Day.
