Redbirds Spirits High as Team Awaits Northern Iowa

Coming off last weekends win over Western Illinois, the Illinois State swimming and diving team anticipates more success as they look to host Northern Iowa on Nov. 13. The meet is slated to start at 1 pm and will be held in Horton Pool. Head swimming and diving coach Steve Paska is looking forward to competing against Northern Iowa. He believes that this final competition before Thanksgiving break will help to determine the lineup for the Akron Invitational. This is the last opportunity for the athletes to compete before break, said Paska. This meet will play a significant role in the final stage of determining the lineup for the Akron Invitational and we should respond better against Northern Iowa because of the home pool advantage, added Paska. Head diving coach Carly Weiden feels this is a good opportunity for the divers to practice on both their one-meter and three-meter dives. This is their last meet before Akron, said Weiden. It gives the athletes one more chance to practice their dives in a competition atmosphere before taking the trip to the Akron Invitational. After hosting its final home meet of the fall season, the Birds head to the Akron Invitational on Dec. 3 in Akron, Ohio.
