For the 15th consecutive year, Illinois State has placed among the Top 25 in the nation in home volleyball attendance. The Redbirds averaged 1,535 fans, ranking No. 16 nationally and bracketed by two long-time ISU foes, No. 15 Northern Iowa and No. 17 Notre Dame.
Hawaii continued its reign as queen of volleyball attendance, averaging more than 7,000 fans per game. Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Washington round out the 2004 first five.
The Illinois State total of 21,494 for 14 matches was a seven percent increase over the 2003 season. Coach Sharon Dingmans Redbirds also maintained a spot among the nations Top 10 in home volleyball attendance for the past decade; ISUs average of 2,116 for 139 matches from 1995-2004 makes the Redbirds one of seven teams to average above 2,000 per contest.
