Womens Tennis Swings Back Into Action

The Illinois State womens tennis team will be looking to upset No.18 South Alabama when they travel to Chicago on Thursday, February 12. Head coach Chris Hoover is looking forward to playing the nationally ranked Jaguars. I am glad we have the chance to play one of the top 20 teams in the country, Hoover said. They are a great team and we are going to try to take advantage of this opportunity. The Jaguars are currently 2-1 this season and are coming off a loss against No. 53 University of Mississippi, 5-2. Katarina Palenikova, who is ranked No. 85 nationally, has won three in a row at the No. 3 position in singles, and will try to lead her team on the road to a victory. The Redbirds will try for their third win of the season after having a week off of matches. The Birds previous wins came against Eastern Illinois and DePaul. Their only loss of the season was to No. 24 Illinois. The Birds begin play at 7:00 p.m. at the Combe Tennis Center at Northwestern University.
