As one of the nations most improved teams, coach Robin Pingetons Illinois State basketball team has become the talk of the town. Fans can get another opportunity to talk to Pingeton and some of her players at the final Illinois State womens basketball luncheon of the year planned for noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 3 at Eastland Suites in Bloomington.
Illinois States 14-8 record with five regular-season games left puts the Redbirds with seven more wins than last year and one of only 10 teams in the nation to top last years win total by seven games or more.
The luncheon is scheduled the day before the Redbirds play Bradley in Peoria and a week in advance of the start of the 2004 State Farm-Missouri Valley Conference Tournament in Springfield, Mo. Picked ninth in the preseason poll, Illinois State is tied for third in the league standings.
Master of Ceremonies Jill Hutchison and Pingeton will have player guests and take questions from fans in attendance. Tickets are $10 each and reservations should be made by calling Pam Rexroat in the womens basketball office at (309) 438-2567.
