Redbird Baseball Back on WJBC

Following the success of Redbird baseballs inaugural season on AM 1230 WJBC, the two will team up again this year, as the flagship station of the Redbird Radio Network will bring over 30 games to fans during the 2004 season. In 2003, WJBC broadcast the games predominately over the internet. After the first weekend of the season, WJBC reported that there was so much interest, the listeners literally shut down their web server as fans flocked to listen to the games. In 2004, all of the games will be available on the internet. In addition, 15 of those games will also be available on AM 1230 WJBC in the central Illinois listening area. Illinois State head coach Jim Brownlee is very pleased with the partnership the two have developed. Having the games on WJBC again this year is great, said Brownlee, now in his second year at Illinois State. Its great for our fans all over when they can hear the games on the internet and the radio. With the way college baseball is growing, its very important to get your product out there, and thats what were able to do. WJBC Program Director R.C. McBride, Sports Director Greg Halblieb and Sports Talk Host Russ Eisenstein will be the primary voices of Redbird baseball this year. Much like Brownlee, McBride is also pleased to be involved again. We at WJBC share the excitement that surrounds the Illinois State baseball team, and I think our listeners share it as well, said McBride. Were very pleased to be able to make this commitment again this year to Illinois State athletics and baseball. Illinois State opens up their 2004 schedule this weekend with a three-game series in Louisville, when they take on the Cardinals at 2:00 p.m. (CST) on Friday. WJBC will open up their broadcast schedule on Saturday, as they take to the airwaves at 11:45 a.m. for pregame, followed by the first pitch at noon. Saturdays game will be on AM 1230 WJBC and will also be available on www.wjbc.com. Sundays game will be available on www.wjbc2.com. Greg Halblieb will have the call of the action.
