Ben Pettinari and Djordje Uskokovic will be expected to assume greater leadership roles, due to the injury to last years No. 1 player, Ben Cappuccitti, when the Illinois State mens tennis team (3-4, 0-0) faces Bradley, Sunday, at the Evergreen Racquet Club, in Bloomington, Ill.
Cappuccitti received a severe blow to his left eye last Saturday in his match against Illinois Chris Martin that caused bleeding behind the eye, and has left the time-table for his return to the Redbirds this season in question.
Head coach Greg Kennett realizes that the injury to Cappuccitti is a significant loss for his team.
Cappuccitti is our leader and one of our best players, Kennett said. Losing him will make it harder for all of us.
The match against Bradley marks the first conference matchup of the season for the Birds. The match is set to begin Sunday, at 11 a.m.,at the Evergreen Racquet Club, in Bloomington, Ill.
