After the first day of the Roadrunner Intercolligiate, Kyle Vasel leads the Illinois State mens golf team with a 36th place finish, while the team sits in 15th place.
Three Birds were able to improve their scores for the second round with Kyle Vasel (79-74) who shoot a 151 tying for 36th, Brian Anderson (79-74) was just behind him with a 153 is tied for 47th ,and Denny Bull (80-79) fired a 159 placing him tied for 74. Dustin Edwards (77-79) shot a 156 and sits tied for 65th, while Matt Maskel (76-85) rounds out the team in a tie for 80th after shooting a 161.
With minimal chance to practice outside, the Birds are still struggling to get back in the swing of things. A score of 315 puts the Birds 15th, which places them above Valley conference foe Northerrn Iowa (653). Another Valley team,Wichita State (583) sits in second.
Leading the tournament is 35th ranked Kansas (574). San Diego States Mark Warman leads the tournament with a 140.
