Illinois State womens tennis head coach Chris Hoover will be changing the doubles and singles match-ups over spring break to find the right combination against Illinois-Chicago on Sunday, March 14.
I am looking to mix up the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions and No. 3, 4, and 5 singles positions, Hoover said. I think that Laura (Gravino) and Emilie (Sechaud) will definitely be moved up in the singles line-up.
Due to an injury, sophomore Michelle Rabinovich will be sitting out the rest of the season. The loss of Rabinovich has had a major effect on the doubles line-up.
We lost Michelle and that is a big factor in doubles for us, Hoover said. We are still adjusting to her being out of the line-up and we are trying different combinations.
The Redbirds are currently 4-3 for the spring season, with two consecutive wins coming from last weeks meets against IUPUI and St. Louis. The Birds will have a week of practice in Las Vegas before coming back to play the last two matches before the conference season begins.
I am looking forward to practicing over break and getting the kinks out, Hoover said. UIC is a good team and it will be one of the last matches before the conference season starts. If we can adjust to the new line-ups and win these next two matches, we will be in good shape for the conference matches.
ISU will host Illinois-Chicago at Evergreen Racquet Club on Sunday, March 14. The match begins at
