Redbirds Look to Build More Confidence Against Butler

The Illinois State womens tennis team travels to Indianapolis, Ind., Saturday, to face Butler for its last non-conference tune-up before starting Missouri Valley Conference play. The match is slated for a 1:30 p.m. start. Head coach Chris Hoover feels confident after the Redbirds recent performance. Last week we got through one of our toughest matches and it really tested our team, Hoover said. Our level of play is high right now and everyone is ready to bring their best game. I know that I wouldnt want to play against us right now. The Birds played a close match against Illinois-Chicago, on Sunday, and pulled through to win, 4-3. ISU and UIC were tied 3-3, until No. 3 Laura Gravino defeated Iris Jaklin in the third set, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. The victory over UIC improved ISUs record to 5-3 on the spring season. Hoover is looking to the Bulter match as a final preparation for the conference season. I expect to have the line-ups finalized after this match and get in the position to be successful, Hoover said. This is our last chance to do that. -- 30 --
