For the second consecutive week, Samantha Richdale has claimed the Missouri Valley Conference Womens Golfer of the Week award. Richdale took home medalist honors at the St. Croix Collegiate Classic this past weekend. This marks her fifth Valley honor of the season through seven tournaments and her ninth career honor overall.
Richdale finished with a three round tally of 226 (76,76,74) on the par 72, 6,020-yard Carambola Golf Club to finish one-stroke ahead of Kristina Rothengatte from SMU and lead the Redbirds to a fourth place team finish. Fourteen teams including Illinois, Notre Dame, and host Xavier competed in the event.
In her career, Richdale has claimed medalist honors four times to go along with her nine Valley honors. On the season, she has played all 21 team rounds with a stroke average of 75.2 to lead all Valley golfers. She shot a school record single round low of 70 in the fall and for the season has 18 of 21 rounds in the 70s. These scores have helped her to five top five finishes in seven events.
Richdale and the Birds will return to action March 28-29, when they travel to Carbondale to participate in the Saluki Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois at Hickory Ridge Golf Course. This meet will be the Birds first action this spring against Valley foes.
