Redbirds Set to Face Saint Louis and Indiana State

Guillermo Gomez was close to unbeatable last weekend against Northern Illinois and Vincennes, and the Illinois State mens tennis team (5-7, 1-0) is hoping for a similar performance Saturday against St. Louis, in St. Louis Mo., and Sunday against Indiana State, in Normal, Ill. The emergence of Gomez in head coach Greg Kennetts lineup has been key to the Redbirds success this season, especially with Ben Cappuccitti and Ben Pettinari on the shelf due to injuries. Wear are pretty banged up right now, but we have a number of guys on the team playing very well right now, Kennett said. We just have to try to get through these injuries as conference play begins. The Redbirds match with St. Louis is set to start at 11 a.m. on Saturday, in St. Louis, Mo., and the match with Indiana State will get underway at 1 p.m. on Sunday, at the McCormick Courts, in Normal, Ill. --##--
