Illinois State University Athletics

Two Football Players Suspended

As a result of separate incidents, Illinois State head football coach Denver Johnson suspended William Rolle and Andre Whitehead indefinitely, Thursday, for violating team rules. Obviously, Im disappointed in both of these young men, Johnson said. We will continue to work ahead with each individual matter and make the appropriate decisions once more information is available. Rolle, who will be a junior next season, played in 10 games last season with two starting assignments at linebacker. He totaled 37 tackles, including 20 solo stops, and had four tackles for loss. Whitehead, a non-scholarship player, saw action in one game last season. A senior running back, Whitehead rushed for 37 yards on five carries in the season opener against Drake.
