As a result of Dirk Williams career-ending injury nearly two seasons ago, the National Collegiate Athletic Associations Administrative Review Subcommittee awarded the Illinois State mens basketball program an additional scholarship for the upcoming season.
The relief from the 5/8 rule was requested by the athletics department and the granted scholarship gives head coach Porter Moser four to award for next season. Moser has already signed Nedu Onyeuku and Justin Dentmon during the early signing period.
Im pleased that the NCAA made a decision that was favorable to Illinois State, Moser said. Perk Weisenburger and
Cindy Harris worked unbelievably hard to make this happen and it gives us the flexibility to add another student-athlete to our program.
The late period for basketball signing is currently in progress.
