Lightning Postpones Richdales Second Round

Inclement weather put a damper on the second round of the NCAA Womens Golf Championship at the Grand National Lake Course Tuesday. The round was postponed after lightning was spotted in the area, meaning Illinois State sophomore Samantha Richdale will resume play at 7:00 a.m., tomorrow on the 13th green. Richdale is currently 2-over-par after 30 holes and will look to move up the leaderboard with 23 holes tomorrow. Samantha left with a four-footer for par on 13, Illinois State head coach Ray Kralis said. Shell be ready to go and play 23 holes tomorrow. Richdale was originally supposed to tee off at 8:50 a.m. Thursday, but will finish the second round before embarking on the 18-hole stretch. The early start doesnt bother the sophomore from Kelowna, British Columbia though. Its kind of nice, Richdale said of the 7 a.m. start. Its usually not as hot out then. Richdale finished out the front nine Tuesday at an even 36. She birdied the par-4, 376-yard 1st, the par-5, 445-yard fourth and the par-4, 372-yard fifth. On the back nine, Richdale bogied on 10, but hit for par on 11 and 12. Kralis was very encouraged by Richdales play over the last two days and feels her best golf is yet to come. Shes (Richdale) shown some real positive signs, Kralis said. Shes driving the ball well off the tee and made some relatively simple birdies. There are signs that Samantha is ready to burst out and make a move. Richdale wont make any adjustments to the time schedule or the fact that shell be playing 23 holes tomorrow. Theres not really any adjustments to make, she said. Ive got a good grove going. I feel a lot better about my swing and things are coming together.
