The Illinois State womens soccer team opened their preseason against the Little Illini Soccer Club Wednesday evening at Adelaide Street Field. The Birds were victorious with a 4-0 win.
This was a good start for us in terms of a scrimmage. We have nine new girls so we are trying to find some rhythm, said head coach Pete Kowall. But it was nice for a few of our girls to score.
Meghan Boler was the leading scorer for the Birds with two goals. Robyn Brady and Jaclyn Rucinsky each contributed one goal.
The Birds took seven shots on goal while preventing the Little Illini from taking a single shot.
On Saturday August 21, the team will continue exhibition play at noon at Adelaide Street Field against AFC United, a club team out of St. Charles, Ill.
