Redbird Womens Tennis Takes Doubles Title at Mizzou Invite

Sophomore Katri Miller and freshman Vronique Parke-Bdard paired up to take the doubles title at the Missouri Invitational in Sundays final round. The duo defeated Mizzous Katka Sevcikova and Hana Madasska with a score of 8-5. In singles action, Miller lost in the Flight A finals to Sevcikova in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 10-8. Miller held a 7-3 lead in the third set breaker, but ended up losing a tough match. In Flight B finals Emilie Sechaud was defeated by Erika Josbena of Mizzou in two matches, 6-3, 6-2. Freshman Carolyne Parent won the third-place match in Flight B competition, which pleased head coach Chris Hoover who noted Parent, shows lots of promise. I saw good signs this weekend, said Hoover. This being our first competition of the year I think we did well, Im excited and I feel good about what this team can accomplish this year. We lost in this tournament to the Missouri players, but we were right there with them the whole time. Katri is showing real signs of maturity, Hoover continued. She and Vronique won the doubles final and both came to play this weekend. The womens tennis team returns to action September 24-26 when it travels to Tulsa for three days of competition. ### Box Score Flight A Singles Katka Sevcikova (Missouri) def.
