Volleyball player Emily Kabbes was honored today as the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 6-12. Not only has Kabbes been praised for her academic performance, but she was also named Valley Player of the Week Monday.
Against South Florida on Sept. 11, Kabbes, a junior from Normal, Ill., hit .800 (12 kills in 15 attempts without an error) to become only the fourth ISU womens volleyball player to compile a .800 attack percentage for a match with a minimum of 10 kills. Kabbes, who has a 3.61 cumulative grade-point average in elementary education, led a Redbird offense that surpassed a 21-year Illinois State record for team match hitting percentage (.542).
Emily really strives for perfection in all areas of her life, said head coach Sharon Dingman. Shes was just recently named Valley Player of the Week, this is a true testament of her ability on and off the court. This is a great honor for her.
