The Illinois State swimming and diving team will be back in action at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24 at Horton Field House. The free Red and White Scrimmage will give the participants a chance to practice against each other before the first meet.
This really allows the women to see what they can achieve and what they need to improve on from racing against their teammates, head coach
Steve Paska said. This is not as serious as our meets, but it really brings together the team into one unified group.
Returners for the Birds include 2004 Missouri Valley Conference Diver of the Year, Krystal Featherston, and 2004 Swimmer of the Year Julie Cocks. Other all-conference honorees returning include Katie Finan, Kate Johnson, Alison Kouba and Brittany Armstrong.
Illinois State also returns the 2004 Diving Coach of the Year, Carly Weiden who feels her divers will be strong again this year. The team will be solid this year," said Weiden. "Most of the girls are all returners except Freshman Katie Janonis who is also looking strong on the board.
