Redbird head coach
Ray Kralis is excited to get this tournament underway in order to begin the season.
I have high expectations going into this weekend. It is important for us to start the season off strong, because our schedule will be more competitive as we go, said Kralis. I know the ladies have their sights set on capturing the title, and we certainly have a team that can accomplish that task.
There are nine teams competing in the tournament. The field includes Bradley, Southern Illinois, Creighton, Northern Iowa and Northern Illinois who represent the Missouri Valley Conference. The remaining teams include, Loyola, Northern Illinois, Missouri-Kansas City, and Western Illinois.
Senior Ashlee Johnson is also excited about this tournament and would like to see the Redbirds take the title.
This tournament will be good head to head competition, Johnson said. Most of the schools we are playing are in the Valley, so we will get more practice and be able to show everyone what the Redbirds are made of.
