Womens Tennis Geared for Tough Competition at Tulsa Invite

Illinois State is set to face tough teams in mock-dual competition at the 12th Annual Hurricane Invitational hosted by the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Head coach Chris Hoover has been pleased with his teams play thus far, and will look for more success over the weekend. This is a good tournament for us to compete in, said Hoover. Its a top-flight event with a strong field, good teams go to this invitational. Right now were still working on performance-oriented goals and concentrating more on our performance, than on winning. Were sort of playing with the belief that if factor A and factor B are done correctly then the winning will take care of itself right now. The Birds will look for sophomore Katri Miller to lead the team as she did in the Mizzou Invitational earlier in the fall. Hoover has been pleased with the play of his team so far, especially the game his newcomers have brought to the court. The new kids are doing well, said Hoover. Im very pleased with their progress. They came in here ready to play and their maturity is helping them move into their team roles quickly. Im anxious to see what everyone brings to the court this weekend. The invitational runs for three days, September 24-26 and play begins each day at 9 a.m. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Other participating teams include: Kansas, Southwest Missouri State, Texas-Arlington, Tulsa and Wichita State. ###
