The Illinois State womens soccer team recorded their first loss of the season falling to the Central Michigan Chippewas, 3-1 in the final game of the Holiday Inn Classic. Jaclyn Rucinsky scored the lone goal for the Birds, but that was not enough to put the Birds on top.
Central Michigan was a better team than us today, said head soccer coach Pete Kowall. Central Michigan came out looking for a victory and thats what they got.
Kowall said the Birds lost the game in the first twenty minutes.
The Birds allowed Central Michigan to score three goals in the first 37 minutes of play. However, Rucinsky fired back with the lone goal for the Birds at the 44 minute mark. The Birds out shot the Chippewas 11-7 but were only able to connect on the Rucinsky goal.
We had several chances in the second half to come back but we didnt capitalize on them, said Kowall. We just got out played today.
