It will be a true battle of the birds Friday, January 21, as the Illinois State Redbird gymnastics team travels to Ball State for the Cardinal Classic.
Slated to start at 7 p.m., the five-team meet will be held at Irving Gym in Muncie, Ind.
The Birds travel to the meet after starting the season 0-3. One of those losses was to Illinois, who will be competing in Fridays meet. Other competitors in the 2005 Cardinal Classic are host school Ball State, Western Michigan and Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Illinois State head coach Kristin Montero looks forward to this weekends five-team competition at Ball State.
The team has really stepped it up this week, said Montero. They are looking to improve upon the last couple of competitions. Mentally the girls are in a better place having gotten some of the jitters out. We are excited to be on the road, it always brings us closer as a team, which also can improve performance.
