The Illinois State swimming and diving team return to Wisconsin Saturday, Jan. 29 to compete in a dual-meet against the UW- Green Bay Phoenix.
The Birds recently returned from Milwaukee-Wisconsin where they faced Green Bay at the annual Bill Ritter Invitational. The Redbirds fell to first place Green-Bay, finishing second in the invite.
The Redbirds enter Green Bay with a 3-2 record in dual-meets. This will be the second consecutive year the Birds have competed against the Phoenix in a dual-meet setting.
Head swimming and diving coach
Steve Paska is excited to see the potential of the athletes in the pool.
Last years meet was a close contestant meet, said Paska. I expect the same this Saturday. This will be the last chance for our athletes to prove themselves in their events before the Missouri Valley Conference Championships.
Head diving coach Carly Weiden is also looking forward to traveling to Green Bay.
This gives the divers more practice before the Missouri Valley Conference Championships, Weiden said. It will be a great opportunity to show what the divers abilities are and work on performance.
Senior diver Krystal Featherston had another outstanding meet this past weekend as the Redbirds traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to participate in the Bill Ritter Memorial Invitational. Recognizing Featherstons achievements, the Missouri Valley Conference has named her Diver of the Week for the sixth time this season. The Indiana native placed first on both the one-meter (250.20) and three-meter boards (417.85) helping to secure the Birds second out of six place finish.
The competition at the Phoenix Sports Center begins at 10 a.m.
