Kanisha Campbell has been named to the 2004 Soccer Buzz All Great Lakes Region second team.
The best players and coaches of the 2004 women's college soccer season were recognized January 5 as Soccer Buzz announced its annual awards for the Great Lakes Region. Players from fifty-four schools comprising the Great Lakes Region were eligible for Buzz awards. Awards were decided by a vote open to all Division I head coaches and Soccer Buzz staff.
The Brampton, Ontario native has been recognized three other times for her work on and off the field for the 2004 season as she was named to the CoSIDA Academic All District V second team, All-Valley first team and the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete team.
Campbells defensive efforts helped carry the Redbirds to a 10-6-4 record as she started every match for the Birds. Campbell recorded three goals on the season in wins over Drury, Northern Iowa and the tie against SMS. As a defender, she helped lead the Birds to victory over No. 11 Illinois and in the win over Northwestern.
Campbell was one of three athletes from the Missouri Valley Conference to receive this honor. Lindsey Portincaso from Drake earned second team accolades while Andrea Schmitz, also from Drake, earned third team honors.
