Rembert Adds Fourth Player of the Week Award

Nov. 8, 2005

NORMAL, Ill. - After a record setting performance against Missouri State, junior running back Pierre Rembert has added another Illinois State Redbird season first, becoming the first player to receive four player of the week honors in 2005 for his performance in Week 10 against the Bears. The latest accolade comes courtesy of CollegeSportsReport.com, after the site named Rembert its I-AA Performer of the Week.

Rembert racked up Gateway Football Conference and The Sports Network Offensive Player of the Week honors as well as being named an I-AA.org National I-AA Weekly All-Star for his performance against MSU before CollegeSportsReport.com came calling. It is also the first time a Redbird has been named the CollegeSportsReport.com I-AA Performer of the Week in 2005.

He compiled a school record 272 yards on 34 carries, while rushing for six touchdowns in Illinois State's 48-23 win at MSU. His 272 rushing yards rank as the fourth best total in Gateway Conference history, and is the second best rushing total in all of Division I football this season. His six touchdowns tied both the Illinois State and the Gateway Football Conference standards, while also giving him the most points (36) scored in a Division I-AA game this season.

He averaged an impressive eight yards per carry, while putting together varying touchdown runs of 6, 2, 2, 51, 22, and 6 yards. He also added two catches for 42 yards for 314 all-purpose yards, which ranks No. 2 in ISU history and eighth in the GFC.

Rembert and the Redbirds wrap up the 2005 season on November 12, when the Indiana State Sycamores come to Normal, Ill., for Senior Day at Hancock Stadium.
