For the third time in his career at Illinois State, men's basketball standout Neil Plank has been honored as the Prairie Farms Missouri Valley Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the period of Nov. 28-Dec. 4.
Plank received the honor twice as a junior and this award marks his first honor for 2005-06.
A guard/forward for the Redbirds, the senior from Mt. Zion, Ill., averaged 12 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4 assists per game while leading the `Birds to wins over Grambling State on Nov. 29 (62-50) and Wisconsin-Green Bay on Dec. 3 (59-51).
Plank, who carries a 3.96 cumulative GPA in finance, currently leads the team in points, averaging 11.7 per contest, as well as assists with 25. In last night's win over IPFW, Plank paced the `Birds with 10 points, seven assists and five boards.
Plank and the Redbirds host the final game of a five-game homestand on Saturday, as the `Birds welcome Georgia Southern to Redbird Arena for a 7:05 p.m. game.
