The Illinois State womens tennis team travels to Marquette Saturday to face the Golden Eagles in a 10 a.m. match at the Helfaer Tennis and Recreation Center. The 1-4 Redbirds enter the contest hungry for a win, while Marquette stands at 2-3 on the season.
Head coach Chris Hoover expects an even match-up from the Golden Eagles, and hopes his Redbirds will come ready to play.
We should be evenly matched with Marquette, said Hoover. Nothing is coming easy for us right now, though, and hopefully we come into the match ready to play like were capable of playing, and ready to compete and fight for points.
Hoover also hopes the team will take this opportunity to fine tune its skills before the conference season gets underway.
Well take all the matches we can get right now, said Hoover. Im hoping we continue to get better in every match we play. Thats what we need to do right now, keep working and getting better to prepare for whats ahead.
