Birds Out to Extinguish the Flames in Womens Tennis Action

The Illinois State womens tennis team travels to Illinois-Chicago Saturday to face the Flames in a 3 p.m. match at the Flames Tennis Facility. Head coach Chris Hoover expects a tough match from Illinois-Chicago, and hopes the Birds can come out on top. UIC always presents a tough challenge for us, said Hoover. Last year we squeezed by them with a 4-3 win at home, and I hope we can do the same thing this year. The Redbirds, now 2-4 after a recent win over Marquette, are anxious to keep the winning trend alive, and Hoover wants to see the team use the match as another opportunity to build upon what they have done so far this season. More than anything I want to see our team continue to build on what weve got and improve, said Hoover. This is another chance for us to keep getting better. After Saturdays competition the Birds return to the Evergreen Racquet Club for back-to-back home weekends. ###
