Gymnasts Host Flames in Conference Action

The Illinois State gymnastics team will face off against Illinois-Chicago for the third time this season, Wednesday, as the Redbirds host the flames in a conference dual at 7 p.m. in Horton Fieldhouse. This final home meet of the season will also serve as senior night for the four seniors on the squad. Victorious in both prior meetings, Illinois-Chicago boasts an 8-6 overall record, 3-0 in Midwest Independent Conference Action. The Flames are coming off a second-place finish at a quad meet in Baton Rouge, La., where they faced Louisiana State, Western Michigan and New Hampshire. Illinois State head coach Kristin Montero is looking forward to the meet to critique the upcoming competition as well as for the seniors to make their mark on the program they will soon be leaving. This weeks competition, against SEMO on Sunday, UIC on Wednesday, will give us a good feel for how each team is doing at this point in the season, said Montero. This is our last home meet of the season and our senior meet. I am really looking to the seniors to lead the way and give us a solid, consistent performance. ###
