The Illinois State womens tennis team will take on conference foe Indiana State in a 2 p.m. match Saturday at the McCormick Courts. The Redbirds will look to extend their 25 match conference win streak against the Sycamores.
The Birds bring an 8-6 (1-0) record into the match, while the Sycamores stand at 4-9 on the season. Head coach Chris Hoover expects to see tough competition from the Indiana State team.
Indiana State is probably the most improved team in the conference over the last few years, said Hoover. They potentially bring in two or three of the best players in the conference, so well have our work cut out for us in this one. I predict it will be a 4-3 score one way or the other when all is said and done.
If we can get by Indiana State it will give us the chance for continued success, Hoover continued. I wish this match came later in the season for us, but it didnt work out that way. Indiana State has proven to be one of the toughest teams in the Missouri Valley Conference, I just hope our team is still the toughest overall.
