As the Illinois State mens golf season nears an end the Birds look to gain momentum as they head to Branson, Mo., to compete in the Branson Creek Invitational April 4-5. With only two tournaments left, head coach
Ray Kralis looks to take that momentum into the Missouri Valley Conference championship April 25-26.
Our guys are looking good right now and it is important that that transfers into a good team performance, Kralis said. It is key for us to perform well in these next two tournaments as we head into conference. The conference has some great competition and we get to face another four MVC teams this week.
The four teams from the MVC include Bradley, Creighton, Northern Iowa and SMS. The Redbirds finished ahead of six schools in last weeks Stevinson Ranch Invitational including two MVC schools, SMS and Drake. Other schools included Nebraska, Oral Roberts, Saint Louis, South Dakota State and Western Illinois.
The Redbirds line includes seniors Denny Bull and Kyle Vasel, junior Matt Maskel, and sophomores Matt Miller and Anthony Imburgia.
Competition begins Monday at 8 a.m. with 36 holes, the following 18 holes will be completed Tuesday.
