The Illinois State womens soccer team will host the Illinois State University Invitational Saturday, April 2, at the Adelaide Street Soccer Field. ISU will match-up against two club teams, MN Bangu Tsunami and the MN Blackhawks.
The Redbirds first match will begin at 10 a.m. against MN Bangu Tsunami. They then will take on the MN Blackhawks at 2 p.m. Other matches scheduled for Saturdays invitational include the MN Blackhawks versus Cedar Rapids at noon, and at 4 p.m. MN Bangu Tsunami will take on Cedar Rapids.
Head coach Pete Kowall is excited about the invitational over the weekend and the quality of the teams that the Redbirds will be facing.
MN Bangu Tsunami and the MN Blackhawks are both very good club teams from the Minnesota area, Kowall said. Cedar Rapids has a quality team as well. Were looking to play well and get better as a team. These spring games will give us a chance to answer some questions before the girls go home for the summer.
The Redbirds have been working hard in the off-season and will use these games as a tool to prepare for the upcoming season.
In the games on Saturday we hope to improve on the things that we have been working on in practice and itll be nice to play some outside competition, added Kowall.
