Ben Murphy, who led Peoria Notre Dame High School to a pair of Top 5 finishes in the Illinois High School Association Class AA Tournament in 2003 and 2004, has signed a National Letter of Intent for golf at Illinois State University.
Murphy was the 2004 ISHA Sectional medalist and led his team to fifth place in 2004 and second place in 2003. He also placed in the top 25 at two American Junior Golf Association events in 2004.
A Dunlap, Ill., native, Murphy was the medalist at the local qualifying tournament for the 2003 Optimist Junior Championship. He joins an Illinois State team which has captured two Missouri Valley Conference titles in the past three seasons.

Ray Kralis believes Murphy can crack the teams lineup as a freshman.
Ben has a tremendous amount of state and national tournament experience and has excelled at all levels, said Kralis. He also has been a part of a successful high school program. He will be an asset both academically and athletically, and I look for him to compete for a spot on the traveling team immediately.
