The Missouri Valley Conference honored Emilie Sechaud as an All-Conference selection at the No. 4 singles position, as voted on by league coaches. Laura Gravino was also honored with All-Select accolades.
A junior and native of Geneva, Switzerland, Sechaud has compiled a singles record of 23-7 in the regular season, mainly at the No. 4 position. Sechaud, also named to the 2005 Scholar-Athlete honorable mention list, received All-Conference honors at the No. 5 position in 2004, and was awarded Freshman of the Year accolades in 2003.
Gravino, a senior from Lawrence, Kan., owns a singles record of 23-7 through the 2005 regular season, and recently moved into third place on the Redbirds' career singles win list with 97 victories. Gravino adds this honor to her list of Valley accolades, as she is also a 2005 First Team Scholar-Athlete recipient. Previously, Gravino was named an All-Conference pick at the No. 4 position in 2004, and at the No. 3 position in 2003, as well as receiving the Freshman of the Year Award in 2002.
Sechaud and Gravino return to the court with the rest of the Redbirds Friday, Saturday and Sunday in MVC tournament action, hosted by Bradley in Peoria, Ill. The `Birds will be playing for their third consecutive Valley Tournament title, and a berth into the NCAA tournament.
