The 2005 Missouri Valley Conference Diver of the Year, Krystal Featherston, has been selected as the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the period of Feb. 14-20. Featherston was chosen for this honor based on her performances at the MVC championships.
Featherston, a senior from Kokomo, Ind., placed first on the one-meter board (254.25) and also took home first place honors on the three-meter board (457.85) while helping the `Birds to a third place finish in the championship meet held in Carbondale, Ill., on Feb. 17-19. Featherston's two first-place finishes garnered her the honor of Diver of the Year.
Earlier in the season, Featherston qualified for the NCAA Diving Regionals, which she will compete in on March 11-13 at Purdue. Featherston carries a 3.24 cumulative grade-point average in public relations.
To qualify for Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
