Illinois State senior offensive lineman Stafford Davis continues to add preseason all-America accolades to his resume, as he was named to CollegeSportsReport.com's 2005 I-AA Preseason All-America First Team.
Davis, who was also named to Street and Smith's, Lindy's and The Sports Network's preseason all-America as a first team selection, has started all 34 games of his college career at left guard but will be moving to center this season. Davis also led the Redbirds with a 140 knockdowns in 2004, including two games with over 20 knockdowns each. In addition, Davis missed just three assignments all last season.
The 2004 All-Gateway First Team selection and 2005 All-Gateway Preseason First Team selection joins Missouri State
defensive back Darren Barnett and kicker John Scifres as the only Gateway first team selections. Southern Illinois running
back Arkee Whitlock and Indiana State placekicker Kyle Hooper were selected to the second team, with Southern Illinois placekicker Craig Coffen garnering third team honors.
CollegeSportsReport.com's list is comprised of 103 players representing 64 I-AA teams, with New Hampshire topping the list with five selections.
