NORMAL, Ill. -
Celebrate the start of the school year and what looks to be another successful campaign for the Illinois State Athletics Department at the inaugural "Redbird Fan Fair" on Saturday, August 27 from 3 to 5 p.m. on the plaza between Redbird Arena and Horton Field House. This event is sponsored by The Redbird Club.
Join in the fun and mingle with ISU student-athletes, coaches and staff at this new event, which is a spin-off of Illinois State's annual "Meet the `Birds" and "Taste of Redbird Country" events.
"We'll have something for everyone. Fans will have the chance to interact with student-athletes and coaches from all of our athletic teams," Redbird Fan Fair chairperson Marta Eynatten said. "The "Taste of Redbird Country" has been successful in the past, and The Redbird Club came up with the idea for this event as another great way to show our appreciation for all that the people and the businesses in Bloomington-Normal do for Illinois State Athletics ."
"Redbird Fan Fair" promises fun for the whole family, including interactive games, a beer garden and live music from the band, "The Hands," as well as food and beverages provided by local vendors. Participating vendors include Alexander's Steak House, Avanti's, Central Station Cafe, Denny's Doughnuts, Mugsy's and Papa John's among others.
Admission to "Redbird Fan Fair" is free; however, attendees must purchase tickets in order to obtain food and beverages. Tickets are 50 cents each. Individual vendors determine the number of tickets required to purchase each food item and beverage.
"This event is a great opportunity for the athletic department to give back to the fans, and get the school year started on the right foot," Director of Athletics Dr. Sheahon Zenger said. "The community does so much for the athletic department and the university. We just want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our supporters."
